Fallen Tree Lodge is located at the entrance to Eleven Mile Canyon, providing convenient access to one of Colorado's renowned stretches of the South Platte River. The canyon is a tailwater fishery below Eleven Mile Reservoir, where releases from Eleven Mile Dam help moderate water temperatures and provide fly-fishing opportunities throughout much of the year.

During winter, the tailwater can remain open and fishable even when many surrounding waters are affected by ice. During the warmer months, reservoir releases can help maintain cooler water temperatures in the canyon, making Eleven Mile Canyon an important destination for anglers throughout the fishing season.

Fallen Tree Lodge also has Twin Creek running through its 35-acre property, providing guests with a unique opportunity to experience this small mountain stream with owner permission.
