Eleven Mile Reservoir
Eleven Mile Reservoir is one of South Park's best-known fishing destinations and offers anglers a very different experience from the South Platte River in Eleven Mile Canyon. Its large size gives anglers plenty of water to explore from shore, boat, kayak or other permitted watercraft.
The reservoir supports rainbow, brown, cutthroat and cutbow trout, along with kokanee salmon, northern pike and carp. Its size and variety of habitat can make locating fish part of the challenge, but Eleven Mile is well known for its opportunity to produce quality trout and northern pike.
Fallen Tree Lodge provides anglers a convenient home base for combining reservoir fishing with a trip into Eleven Mile Canyon, making it possible to experience both stillwater and South Platte River fly fishing during the same stay.
Spinney Reservoir
Spinney Mountain Reservoir is one of Colorado's renowned Gold Medal stillwater fisheries. Located in South Park, the reservoir is known for quality rainbow, cutthroat and brown trout as well as northern pike, making it an excellent destination for anglers looking to add stillwater fishing to their trip.
Fishing at Spinney is restricted to artificial flies and lures. The reservoir's open South Park setting can produce strong winds and rapidly changing weather, so anglers should pay attention to conditions when planning a day on the water.
Fallen Tree Lodge makes it convenient for anglers to combine a day at Spinney Mountain Reservoir with fishing the Dream Stream, Eleven Mile Reservoir, or the South Platte River in Eleven Mile Canyon during the same stay.
Antero Reservoir — Currently Closed
Antero Reservoir has historically been one of South Park's notable stillwater trout fisheries. However, the reservoir is currently closed to public recreation following Denver Water's 2026 drought-response drawdown. Water was moved from Antero to Cheesman Reservoir to help conserve water during extremely dry conditions.
There is currently no announced reopening date. Anglers planning a stay at Fallen Tree Lodge should check Denver Water for current conditions and concentrate their fishing plans on other available South Park waters, including Eleven Mile Reservoir, Spinney Mountain Reservoir, Eleven Mile Canyon and the Dream Stream.
